Who We Are
Heritage Quay is the official archive for the University of Huddersfield, acting as the guardian of the archives of other organisations, families and individuals dating back over 200 years.
Our 21st-century role is to collect and secure the future of archives, both digital and physical, to preserve them for generations to come, making them as accessible and available as possible.
During 2012-2017 £2million funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund alongside funding from the University of Huddersfield has been invested in transforming the archives. New accommodation for customers and for archives has been built in Heritage Quay. During 2014-17 a programme of activities and resource discovery will open up the archives to everyone.
We hold events in Heritage Quay and elsewhere. Individual researchers can explore the online catalogue, visit the searchroom to use archives – or if you are unable to visit, use our research and copying services.

We are proud to hold the Customer Service Excellence award. Our Customer Service Standards set out our commitment to our customers, and we also report on how we perform each year.
