Sports Study Day 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on 22/06/2020

Sports History Day flier

Heritage Quay is inviting Sports Historians to a virtual study day on Monday 22 June. This event is open to anyone interested in the history of sport, but will particularly useful for those who would like to know more about the England Netball and Rugby Football League archive collections held at Heritage Quay.

Historians Dr Sam Oldfield (MMU) and Professor Tony Collins will be on hand to tell you more about the collections and give you ideas for research ideas. You’ll also be able to talk to Justine Reilly about how Sporting Heritage can support you and your research.

There won’t be the opportunity to view collections on the day because like all archives and museums, Heritage Quay doesn’t currently have access to their physical stores. But staff will be able to give tips on how to search the catalogue, identify items that might be useful to consult in the future, and book you in for potential visits. The Study Day will also be a place to socialise with other sports historians – share ideas, tips or just chat over a cup of tea.

The day is free to attend, and you can come for as long as you like. There will be two slots, 10am-12pm and 2-4pm (BST). It will be taking place on Zoom. There’s no need to book, but you will need to email hqbookings@hud.ac.uk for the link and access password. You can also use that address to get touch with any questions.
