2016 Annual Supporters Direct Rugby League Voice of the Fans Conference 9:30 am - 1:30 pm on 29/10/2016

After last year’s highly successful event, Supporters Direct will be holding their third annual Voice of the Fans Rugby League Conference this year on the morning of Saturday 29th October in Huddersfield. It is a great pleasure to be returning to Huddersfield, the birthplace of the game, for this event, in the beautiful and appropriate surroundings of Huddersfield University’s Heritage Quay.

The theme of this year’s event is Rugby League, Past, Present & Future.

We are proud to be linking up with the RFL to hold this event prior to the afternoon’s Four Nations England v New Zealand, taking place just down the road at the famous John Smiths Stadium. on Dutton Director of Projects and Planning says ‘The RFL are once again delighted to support the Voice of the Fans Conference. ‘After a hugely successful event in 2015 the Conference offers a great opportunity for those with a passion for the game to come together and discuss the topical issues facing the sport ahead of England’s first game in the Four Nations.’ We have two keynote speakers to be announced alongside a fantastic panel of Rugby League guests.

Attending delegates will be given the chance to take part in a lively Q&A session with an international feel, where they can ask our panel, including a current referee and former player, all the burning questions!

There will be two informative and interactive workshops, one looking at celebrating your clubs heritage with Helen Peacock from the Heritage Lottery Fund discussing the various projects which they fund and how to access that funding and then looking at celebrating the game’s heritage, with Brigid Power talking about the upcoming National Rugby League museum plans.

The second workshop will look at getting back to the basics of Supporters Direct’s key mission; To help Supporters Trusts be as representative and as relevant as possible in the sport and help fans of RL benefit from a closer relationship between clubs and their fans and communities as well as providing a much needed direct link between supporters and the game as well as exploring the benefits of community-ownership.

The timetable for the morning is as follows with the event ending at 1.30pm to give delegates time to make their way to the John Smiths Stadium for the afternoon’s Four Nations match:
