Yorkshire Music Weekend All Day on 30/07/2017

For Yorkshire Day 2017 Heritage Quay is exploring the Yorkshire music. We’re putting together a packed weekend of performances, talks and activities across the weekend there’ll be something for everyone. Keep checking back for up-to-date listings, everything is free but some activities will require booking in advance.

Saturday 29 July

11-11.30am Slaithwaite Brass Band perform on the plaza

11.30am-12.30pm & 1pm-2pm Let’s Play Vinyl.
Hands-on creative workshop for kids aged 5 – 10. All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Free Tickets

2.30-4pm Opera singing workshop with Opera North
Inspired by amazing Yorkshire opera singers like Lesley Garrett and Janet Baker, young people aged 8-15 are invited to have a go at opera singing with Opera North! Free Tickets

4.30-5.30pm Experimental Music making workshop. Inspired by composers such as Trevor Wishart we’ll be experimenting with sounds at this drop in session. Suitable for any age!

7.30-10pm An Evening of Haydn Wood.
Join Haydn Wood expert Gilles Gouset (all the way from Canada) and local groups Woodsome Beck and Woodsome Singers to celebrate the music of Haydn Wood Free Tickets

Sunday 30 July

10-11am Sunday Brunch Music Club. Ease into Sunday with a special edition of our music club. Fresh tea and coffee and a selection of great Yorkshire music. No need to book

11am -1pm Write music for Yorkshire! workshop. In partnership with HOOT Creative Arts, come and write a piece of music inspired by the great county of Yorkshire! This workshop is suitable for ANYONE over the age of 14, although anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult Book here

1.30-2.30pm Lunchtime concert with Woodsome Beck playing Haydn Wood with free Afternoon Tea. No need to book

3.30-5pm A Song of Summer film screening. No need to book
