Ian McMillan (b.1958) is a Darfield (near Barnsley) born poet who began performing in the 1970s. He graduated in Modern Studies from the North Staffordshire Polytechnic in 1978 and is an enthusiastic advocate of poetry for all ages. He has published volumes of poetry for adults and children, and has addressed the character of Yorkshire speech and dialect in his work. He has written for a number of popular publications, including Q and Mojo, and presents a number of programmes on BBCRadio, including The Verb and Ian McMillan's Writing Lab.
