Thurgood, Graham, Archive
This collection largely contains papers collated by Graham Thurgood on the History of Nursing in Halifax and Huddersfield 1870-1960 (PhD thesis). The collection contains a variety of oral history study resources i.e. raw materials such as: interview transcripts, audio tapes, consent forms, summary sheets, correspondence (printed and handwritten) and copyright forms (signed and blank).

There is also research material not linked to specific interviewees, such as articles on the transition of nursing practices and experiences over the years comparing past and modern accounts. Also, the collection includes general nursing memorabilia, such as: copies of photos of interviewees as nurses and projection slides of nursing during the 1960s.

Each includes consent form (various types), interview transcripts and correspondence of various types e.g. arranging time and place of interview and 'thank you' letters. Each also contains 2 audio tapes, an interview template, and a log summary from the audio tapes, contact forms and copyright forms (some signed). Graham's numbering system was in the format: 'HUD 1: E.B.'.

    Contains photocopies of photographs and accompanying notation regarding the training of nurses at the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, the Huddersfield District Victoria Sick Nurses Association, Denby Dale and Cumberworth, Skelmanthorpe and Clayton West Military Auxiliary Hospital and Mill Hill Isolation Hospital.
    Exhibition materials from a presentation made by Graham Thurgood with the History of Nursing 'Women at Work' informational talk which formed a part of the Kirklees International Women's Day Festival 'Women Making Changes' held at the Tolson Museum on 9th March 2002.

    Oral history audio tapes for Huddersfield and Halifax-based nurses Item

    Collection of audio tapes: these are all copies of the interviews Graham recorded. Accompanying the tapes is an index sheet providing interview codes assigned by Thurgood, names of interviewees, number of tapes per person, length of recordings and number of sides recorded per tape, interview dates, age of interviewees and type of tapes used. Also, on the reverse of the index sheet: lists of interviewees, dates transcripts were completed, and also costs of recording equipment.
