    Colne Valley Labour Union individual members’ register Item

    1891-1904
    Register of members of the Colne Valley Labour Union. The register shows that in its first year (1891) the Union had 202 members, and that in 1895 Tom Mann (of West Kensington, London) was a member of the Union. In 1900 the Colne Valley Labour Union becomes the Colne Valley Labour League.

    The back of the volume also contains the Colne Valley Labour League's half year accounts to Mar 1906, and the County Council Wage Fund balance sheet 1901-1904.

    The register is split into the following regions of the Colne Valley: Diggle, Dobeross, Greenfield, Uppermill, Delph, Springhead, Marsden, Slaithwaite, Linthwaite, Golcar, Meltham, Honley, Holmfirth, New Mill, and Gatehead. The register also provides details of subscriptions of members.

    Colne Valley Divisional Labour Party members and subscriptions register Item

    1948-1955
    The register is split into each of the Urban District Parties that comprised the Colne Valley Divisional Labour Party. The register contains a note that states that in 1955 members of the Kirkburton Urban District Labour Party were transferred to the Huddersfield Borough Labour Party. Towards the end of the volume there is a summary of total membership numbers 1945-1952, these figures show that there was a significant decline in membership from 1852 members in 1945 to 1224 members in 1946, and that there was also a significant increase in membership from 992 in 1948 to 1662 in 1949.

Towards the end of the volume there is a summary of total membership numbers 1968-1972. In 1965 the Colne Valley Divisional Labour Party became the Colne Valley Constituency Labour Party.

    Lists of trade union members and addresses living in the Colne Valley Constituency supplied by the Manchester North Internal Branch of the Post Office Engineering Union and the Huddersfield & District Co-operative Branch of the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers. These lists were sent to Arthur Belcher, Secretary of the Colne Valley Constituency Labour Party, following a circular he sent to trade unions requesting the information.
